Reading with Mrs. Brazell

Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them. -Lemony Snicket

October 30-November 3

Hello(ween)! Students have been working hard to finish our class novels, learn strategies to help them comprehend what they read, and use tools to formulate clear and accurate writing responses.

These are ongoing skills that we will continue to hone as we grow as readers and writers!

September 5-8

Happy September! I hope everyone had a relaxing 3-day weekend!

My reading classes took a quiz on Friday, September 1. I wanted to make sure everyone was prepared for it, so we practiced our terms a little longer than I planned, but that is awesome! Better to learn it right than have to reteach it all year.

All Reading classes are starting their novels this week!!! This is my favorite part of the year because we start getting into applying our vocabulary, and we get to have thought-provoking discussions about the themes of the novels.

As usual, you child should be reading their library book or a novel from home 20 minutes a night and recording it in their blue Reading Log. They should have this in their Reading Folder.
